I've loved mountains all my life and made a choice to spend as much time as possible exploring the Himalaya more than 25 years ago. After countless treks to Nepal, India and Bhutan, I decided to embark on a life-changing trek, to connect every himal. The result was the Great Himalaya Trail. I've now documented 7500km of unique trails, most of them I've visited many times, and my passion to explore the hills is still very much alive and well!
There have been many occasions when locals in the remote mountains have helped, sheltered or nourished me... and then there is the loyal and joyful camaraderie of my guide and crew who sometimes accompany me. For me, the Great Himalaya Trail project is a way of acknowledging the selflessness and generosity of mountain people, a way to recognise them as some of the most amazing people in the world.
