Join us on Wednesday 31st May as we go behind the scenes of the Hidden Door Festival!
We will meet in Leith's Custom House for drinks, networking and a chance to meet the team behind the festival before we take a short walk to the Old Leith Theatre: the venue for this year's festival. This is your chance to explore two new events spaces with the Edinburgh Travel Massive Chapter as we look ahead to the busy summer season.
During the evening, accompanying the usual labyrinth of over 30 visual art installations, guests will be able to experience a fine array of theatre, poetry and cinema to entertain and enthral. Jamie And Lewis Wardrop will present Glasgow V Edinburgh, bringing irreverent and playful multimedia as they rip up the postcard view of their cities.
The critically-acclaimed Grid Iron will perform South Bend; Ludens Ensemble will present Love (based on Shakespeare's Sonnets), and renowned actor Tam Dean Burn will give us his take on Stuart Campbell's dark and comical novel, John McPake and the Sea Beggars.
Poetry and Spoken Word will come from Andrew Blair's The R-Pattz Facttz, an evening of poetry all about Robert Pattinson (yes, that one from Twilight)!
The evening's cinema selections are chosen by Dispatch Feminist Moving Image, and will focus on works and exhibitions created and curated by women. There are also got plans for a panel discussion and acoustic open-mic night in the backstage area, so there's bound to be something for everyone to come and explore.
Please note that due to capacity we are only able to welcome a maximum of two people from each organisation.
