About this event

Join us as Edinburgh enters its peak summer festivals moment for a unique Behind the Scenes tour of the festival city on Thursday 11 August, from 5.45-9pm.

As we look ahead to the 70th anniversary of the emergence of the festival city in 2017, this is your chance to find out about the history of Edinburgh’s Festivals as we journey through the capital’s New Town and Old Town on a walking tour, taking in many of the key year-round festival sites and venues.

Our meeting point is Charlotte Square Gardens, where you will be the first group to see inside the site for this year’s Edinburgh International Book Festival. We’ll then explore the city on foot for a #socialstroll before concluding in a secret festival bar!

We'll split into two groups for the tour - please wear sensible walking shoes. As this is a walking tour of the city we need time to organise guests into groups and provide information - it's important to arrive at the stated time of 5.45pm and we'll be setting off promptly. Route points will be provided at our departure in case anyone gets lost!

Please RSVP for this event as spaces are limited. Only fully completed TM profiles are approved, so we'd urge to check your listing, complete it and then you can sign up for our event - don't miss out!

If you have any questions or problems registering for this event please email info@smart-tourism.co.uk or message Edinburgh chapter leaders Katy Duncan or Lesley Judge,
