Hello! I'm Katie, a Scottish islander, journalist, and award-winning travel blogger based in NYC.
As a journalist for more than 15 years, my work has been published in the likes of BBC Travel, AFAR, Roads and Kingdoms, Buzzfeed, and Scottish Islands Explorer, among others.
I also run the travel blog, Stories My Suitcase Could Tell, which inspires readers to travel both near and far. Founded in 2011, it was named ‘Best Travel Blog' in 2014 by Cosmopolitan; saw me named as one of Scotland's Top 100 Women in Tourism in 2020; and has been featured in National Geographic Traveller, Buzzfeed, AFAR, and Wanderlust Magazine.
When I'm not writing (or travelling!) I can usually be found getting stuck into a good book, going on long walks with my puppy, Winston, or heading out in search of the best food NYC has to offer.
What is your favorite travel destination?
Q&AChina. I lived there for a year, and have some very fond memories of it. And of course, there is really nowhere on earth like my childhood home, the Outer Hebrides of Scotland!
Where do you dream of traveling to?
Q&AZanzibar, Cuba, Jordan, Israel, Iran... (the list goes on!).
