I’m a small town girl with itchy feet for adventure and exploration which I satisfy by exploring the beautiful Appalachian mountains in which I reside. I also enjoy extended USA road trips with my family.
I currently reside in upper Northeast Tennessee only a stone's throw from my small Tennessee hometown, Elizabethton, Tennessee.
I’ve lived, played, and worked in Tennessee my entire life most of which was spent right here in the Appalachian mountains. I spent a few short years in Memphis, TN while attending Pharmacy school and loved it, but our love for the outdoors brought us home to the Appalachian and Smoky Mountains.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, Mark. He is an amazing husband, father, and local optometrist to our small community in Blountville, TN. (Shameless plug, but yes, it’s true…just read all his great reviews. He’s the real deal!) He is also my photographer, my ATV driver, and my marathon road trip partner. We are best friends and have a great time exploring God’s creation.
We have three children that I homeschool and share my daily life with who know way too much about marketing and blogging, but who help me keep this house humming so that I can write and plan our adventures. They are a blessing and I adore them.
VeraVise Outdoor Living exists to highlight and share the beauty of the Appalachian mountain region in which I live and to inspire you to live life outdoors whether at home or on the road through hiking, ATV riding, camping, fishing, and so much more.
The name VeraVise is a combination of the words
Veracity: habitual observance of truth in speech or statement; truthfulness: He was not noted for his veracity. conformity to truth or fact; accuracy: to question the veracity of his account.
Advise: offer suggestions about the best course of action to someone. To inform of, notify about/of, give notice of, apprise of, inform (someone) about a fact or situation, typically in a formal or official way.
We strive to offer the honest and helpful advice that inspires outdoor living at home and on the road.
My articles, views, and outlook on life are firmly grounded in a Christian worldview and while I don’t overtly share that in my writing, they do influence how I view current events and may come out in my writing from time to time. A writer who isn’t truthful isn’t worth reading so I hope that is an encouragement as you peruse my site.
I want to connect with travelers and travel bloggers and share the beauty of the Southeastern US.
