The Federal Association of the German Tourism Industry (BTW ) is dedicated as the umbrella organization of the German tourism industry for the common , overarching interests and needs of the industry . The tourism industry is a very heterogeneous but strong industry that provides nearly three million jobs and contributes 4.4 per cent of gross value added . Thus, it is on par with industries such as automotive or mechanical engineering.
