Holding a Master Degree in Social Anthropology + Iranian Studies - with an expertise on ethnic identities, sustainable development and diversity issues I always loved travelling.
During my studies on Crete and at the Free University of Berlin I travelled for research purpose to Iran, Malawi and Haiti and also travelled in my free time. In my early years, when I was still living in Greece, I enjoyed working as a tour guide and incoming agent. In Germany I was counsellor at the University’s International Academic Exchange Office and had an interesting experience as quality management evaluator for development aid workers of the German Development Service before I joined Messe Berlin in 2004.
As social engagement was always important to me I was happy to vitally engage myself in building up ITB’s Corporate Social Responsibility. I am passionately advocating responsible tourism and speak at sustainable tourism events internationally.
Supporting equal human rights in tourism, it was also important for me to implement LGBT travel into ITB’s portfolio and to serve on the board of the IGLTA and its Foundation. I am also a board member of PATA (Pacific Asian Travel Association) and The Code against Sexual Exploitation of Children in Tourism and a jury member at several global responsible tourism contests.
