My career in tourism started in 2011, when I went from working as a Marketing Consultant for a number of local businesses in Antigua to representing one of the island's top hotels as a Sales Representative. What I loved most about my job was implementing strategies that directly increased revenue; and as someone who has always rooted for the 'underdog' and has a strong dislike of anything corporate or mass market (aside from a Starbucks addiction), I was especially keen on growing revenue for small, independent hotels. I started my own Revenue Management company in 2014 and have been working to elevate small hotels ever since.
I recently co-founded ZOEST, a passion project inspired by my travel experiences and designed to promote conscious consumerism. Our mission is to help marginalised business owners - especially women - earn more money, and by extension more power, so that we are better represented everywhere and will ultimately have an equal say in 'how things are'.
As a heads up to fellow community members: as soon as I feel any sort of connection with someone, I will ask them to take a personality test. I find the results fascinating and helpful, especially when working together or collaborating on any project. I am an ISTP-T.
I like the idea of building community outside of Facebook groups. I am keen to connect with likeminds seeking different ways to do business post-Covid.
