I'm Tom, an avid cyclist and bike touring enthusiast. After an unhealthy amount of frustration with traditional navigation apps sending me onto busy roads or impractical routes, I decided to create Traili Map (trailimap.com) - a route planner specifically designed for cyclists who prefer quiet, bike-friendly routes over simply getting from A to B via the fastest but often unpleasant roads.
There are plenty of route planners out there, but here’s what makes Traili Map different:
- Plan routes that prioritize actual bike trails and cycleways over regular roads
- See exactly which bike trails your route will use
- Check trail reviews and ratings from other cyclists to avoid unpleasant surprises
- Organize multi-day trips with our layer system for longer adventures

Wow! As a bikepacker and tourer it's great to see someone trying to improve the options out there! I like how it can tell you elevation and breaks down different segments with colors based on surface type. I will say, it's a little challenging to navigate to an exact location you really have to zoom around on the map to find where you want to be. I didn't see a way to enter an exact address or search for a hotel or campsite.

I agree with you that the search functionality is something that is definitely missing. The good news is that it is already in the works and should be added soon :)

Traili is currently web-only, though I'm planning to develop a mobile app in the future. It's been a bit challenging since I'm working on this project solo at the moment.
I'm definitely open to collaboration! Did you have something specific in mind? :)
First of all, I think a mobile app will bring you more users and I am open to do the testing part if you are interested. Also on the web part as this is my daily job :)) and also, I can help you with placing Romania on your map. I am not a cyclist, but I travel a lot in my country and I know some cycling routes and also, some of the most beautiful and authentic places that foreigners can feel when coming to Romania: like accommodations, festivals, mountain routes, very good food and some outside of the mega touristic places
Yeah, definitely would be great to have Traili on mobile as well. Actually I've started working on the React Native version already but keep in mind I'm the only person working on this project and it's hard to handle web app + mobile app all at once. I appreciate your willingness to test it when it finally comes out. I'll definitely let you know when the beta version is available :)
Helping with Romania would be amazing. I will be adding a feature that enables users to add interesting places on the map so maybe you could add some for Romania then?
