Hi everyone! I’m Juanita Abrahams, a travel and lifestyle content creator passionate about sharing authentic travel experiences with my audience. I’ve been fortunate enough to explore some incredible destinations (primarily locally) and, along the way, I’ve learned how important it is to stay organised and inspired through the right tools.
🤳 What travel apps you've been using this year?
With social media saturated with "hidden gems" and overhyped tourist attractions, I'm curious to hear from other travellers which apps they find most helpful in:
• Planning trips • Discovering new places • Documenting their journeys
Here's my pick:
I've been using My Trecco (mytrecco.com) on and off for about a year now, and apart from finding great places to visit - accommodation, travel etc it's also great for well-travelled individuals or explorers to upload their authentic recommendations and UGC. A lot easier to interact with every day people's experiences vs hotels / guesthouses promoting themselves. It is also great for planning a trip.
For hotel booking I'm really enjoying Marriott Bonvoy and Accor's ALL.com apps. There's quite a lot of inventory between both suppliers and booking direct with the hotel is a way better experience than with OTAs (eg, room upgrades, late checkouts, etc)
For flights, I've been using Singapore Airlines (I'm a Krisflyer) for some award bookings, and it's a really good app if you happen to be a Singapore Airlines frequent flyer.
I also recently migrated from App In The Air (RIP) to byAir and Logmyflight.world to keep track of my flight logs and bookings.
For eSIM I've been using Jetpack Global, which is great unless you're in Singapore (not supported due to telco laws).
What a great topic to discuss! I would love your thoughts on the Pogo travel app. It's been compared to the Pinterest of travel and you can create cool pinboards on any destination you want to plan a trip to.
You can also subscribe to Pogo Plus where you can use Pogo Magic and it creates a completely tailored travel itinerary for you based on your likes/interests.
Hey Juanita, not really an app, but would love to hear what you think about our tool TrustTheCrowd.com to find restaurants. I'm obviously biased, but it has been helping us a ton in finding restaurants that fit our needs.
To not only promote our own website, I also enjoy using World of Mouth to find great places to eat while travelling.
Hey Juanita, for China travel a virtual private network (VPN) app is critical due to local censorship. Without that, you can't really plan much unless you use local sites and apps, which are in Mandarin. I find the Trip app great for planning a trip (no pun intended) in China as it includes high-speed train bookings and hotel reviews which are in both English and Mandarin (can be translated) so you get a feel for the hotel in both local and foreign terms. Cheers :)
Hey Juanita. Im going to be basic but definitely google maps. I was in Australia for a month and its a lifesaver. But I definitely have to try the two apps Isn recommended for booking.
I can’t imagine traveling without the *TripIt* app—it’s a lifesaver for organizing all my travel plans in a clean, easy-to-view format on both mobile and web. I especially love how I can simply forward my booking emails, and it automatically adds everything to the app.
Another must-have is *Flighty*. It offers fantastic flight alerts, detailed stats, and even annual travel metrics like total passport stamps and flight summaries. It makes managing and tracking travel so seamless and fun!
Pogo Travel is the one to watch for me, although you could say I'm a little bias!
We’re building the ultimate travel planning app, featuring Pinboards where you can plan trips, invite others to collaborate, and create itineraries yourself. Or, let Pogo Magic, our personalised AI, suggest an itinerary for you in just a few taps.
With a personal Map View showcasing all your saved Pins, the ability to add your bookings, and even book directly through Skyscanner or Booking.com, Pogo Travel is a must-have for every travel lover!
