Since it's launch in October 2013, the Dublin Travel Massive is a regular for anybody in the online travel industry in the Irish capital...and there's a lot of them. Dublin is home to some of online travel's most innovative companies, while many of world's heavy hitters who have their European headquarters here - think Airbnb, Hostelworld and Facebook (the most shared type of content on Facebook is travel!).

With heavy hearts, we mark the untimely passing of a dear friend, colleague, and Travel Massive Dublin Chapter member, Paul Byrne. Most recently at IBS and formerly at OpenJaw Technologies and Datalex, Paul was a seasoned travel tech veteran. In a relatively small community of global airline and travel tech people, we often joke that everyone knows everyone or you're just one connection away from anyone in the business - Paul was that guy. Paul was the one step to anyone. He not only knew everyone, but he remembered everyone and was liked and loved by them all. Funny, gentle, helpful, generous, and humble - all at the same time - there was a lot to like and love. On behalf of the Travel Massive Dublin Chapter, Ar dheis Dé go Raibh a Anam.

Incredibly sad and a shock to us all. Paul sat 2 metres from me for 4 years - last saw him at Christmas for a few pints with the OpenJaw crew. Paul was a fit, healthy person who loved his music and meeting his many friends from around the world. RIP.
Paul was a great guy, I worked with him for 4 years at OpenJaw and met up with him many times since. Loved our conversations about music - he was a huge Jam/Paul Weller fan.
Well said Kevin. Very sad to hear this news. Far too young. Paul was always a complete Gentleman. He helped me out on a number of occasions when I was pretty new to the game in Boxever. He was passionate about travel, and about technology, as well as golf and music. Recently, I only got to catch up with him at events on the road. Never short of banter. One of the good guys......he will be missed. RIP.
It's hard to believe; I recently saw him in great form at some of the conferences. Paul was always willing to help. RIP
Traditionally we remember a passing a month after. Thinking of you today, Paul.
Looking forward to seeing some of you next Wednesday for our evening event with Stripe and Future Travel Experience. It's not too late to register over on travelmassive.com.
