Hi, my name is Benoit and I'm passionate about how technology can disrupt the travel industry and ultimately lead to a better end-user experience.
I have been conducting numerous interviews over the past few weeks to gain insights into the way people curate, organize and share travel content, with the final objective of identifying opportunities to innovate in this space.
I intend to share my preliminary findings across a series of discussions on Travel Massive to engage with the community.
The first topic relates to the main information channels used by travellers to discover a specific destination and learn about where to go and what to do. Below a summary from the interviews:
- Friends / Family: For 67% of interviewees, friends and family’s word-of-mouth play a significant role in picking the next destination and 42% rely on their recommendations to know what to do on the ground.
- Social Media: 75% of interviewees mention social media, and specifically Instagram, as as key ...

I'm curious where everyone in our community are planning to visit next year. Especially off-the-beaten path, or new destinations (for you). Also, what inspired you?
👉 Share your 2024 travel plans in the comments!
Hosting a group trip to Central America in April! Nicaragua - Costa Rica - Guatemala. And then hoping to see the Northern Lights somewhere (Canada or Iceland), The Balkans in the summer and Peru in September
Hey Ian, are you going to share your 2024 travel plans? :-)
Wohooo! Is it the end of 2023 already?! Time flies so fast...
My 2024 plans so far:
🇯🇵 Japan (Jan-March) for a veeeeeeery slow trip for snowboarding + remote work
🇧🇬 Back home in Bulgaria for Bansko Nomad Fest 2024 (June-July)
Anyone heading these ways?
2024 has lots of travel with the majority of it to visit with friends and/or family. I live in Mexico and most of the first half of the year travel will be in Mexico. Going to places in the Yucatan and Quintana Roo states in March, Mazatlan for the solar eclipse in early April with friends, a spa retreat with my mother in sister in NW Mexico in May. Then to the US for June/July to visit family. Maybe Guatemala in August and looking at Europe in the fall winter. We're going to go to some Christmas markets.
New York in January, hopefully Hawaii in February, then Greece and Italy in April and May. After that--I'm all yours! Invitations accepted!! ;-)
Looking forward to my first Central & South America trip in 2024! Will start in Jan. in Guatemala, then to Nicaragua - Costa Rica (March/April) - Panama - Ecuador - Peru - Chile - Argentina - Brazil!
We'll be in Morocco Jan/Feb (new to us both), then Europe from early Mar (starting with the ITB) and Asia from about Oct. We never plan that far ahead, so not sure yet which countries in Europe (other than Germany, the UK, Netherlands and hopefully Romania) or Asia (other than returning to Japan).
Still figuring it out, but current plans are potentially Japan in May (I have tried 4 times before to go to Japan but it has never worked out, so hoping to be 5th time lucky), Bali in August (or if Japan doesn't work out then maybe Bali in May). Then likely Qatar in Nov/Dec for the F1 - combined with either Oman (another country I've wanted to visit for years) and UAE (for the F1 in Abu Dhabi but also I have family in Dubai and I haven't been since 2005 so a lot has changed. Plus I really want to see the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in Abu Dhabi), or India. My mum is from India, but I have never been, so definitely on the bucket list. Let's see. It might be all or some of these, or it might end up being something completely different if some other opportunity presents itself, but those are my loose plans at the moment.
I hope Japan works out for you! Let me know if you'd like any Japan recs :)
I live in Oman so if you come, let me know!
And the mosque in Abu Dhabi is beautiful and while you're there, head to the Louvre because the architecture is beautiful
Thank you so much! I really hope so too. If I definitely end up going, it would certainly be great to get some recommendations!
Thank you! I will definitely let you know if my Oman plans work out (fingers crossed they do). Oh yes, I've been following the Louvre Abu Dhabi on Instagram for a while now too. It looks amazing!! So many things to see, arrghh, haha
A few national parks in the USA for sure. Also, I wanna pay a visit to Europe and Bangladesh.
After an expensive year of travel, I'm searching for deals and destinations that won't break the bank again. Looking more toward South America and possibly UK (since I can stay with friends). But who knows. I may end up with a long flight back to Taiwan to visit friends there.
We will be in Morocco for six weeks from mid-January. I'm running in the Marrakesh Marathon. Next, we'll be attending the ITB Berlin, spending time with Sandra's parents and then slow travel around Europe (in and out of Schengen) until early October. We loved exploring Japan so much this year, that we'll return for 2 months and then finish off the year in South East Asia. Defnitely want to network while we are in Europe and catch up with like-minded people.
I'm planning to go to Armenia, Georgia and Azerbaijan in Jan/Feb. I also plan to return to Pakistan later in the year and hopefully go to Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. There are a few other places as well, but lets see!
2023 was a huge travel year for me, so no travel plans for 2024 (yet!), but hoping to spend a couple months at the end of the year in Japan to explore some new locations.
Hey now ... 2024 is looking to be a busy year for me travel wise. I just got my visa today for Libya! So I will be heading there in early January. Then Thailand, Laos, Australia, NZ, Samoa, Tonga, Tuvalu, PNG.
Then the latter half of the year, I will be focusing on producing the Extraordinary Travel Festival in Bangkok in November.

I'm planning to visit all countries in South America for birdwatching
We've started loving doing a January cabin trip in the north Georgia mountains. Great experience when you have the right group.
Planning our annual July 4th trip to a national park-- possibly Olympic.
Still haven't figured out our international trip for the year. Any suggestions? (preferably good with kids)
In 2023 waren wir 226 Tage auf Pressereisen unterwegs, wir hoffen, dass es 2024 etwas ruhiger wird und wir ein wenig Zeit zum Aufarbeiten finden :-)
Hosting several groups to the roof of Africa " Mt Kilimanjaro" in 2024
Hey! I am new here but excited to join the community. In 2024 I am planning on experiencing Guadeloupe and Socotra Island. Much planning and meditation to do for these.
I'll be starting the year in Philippines, then to Bangkok for about a month, Considering going to ITB in Berlin, then maybe Japan & definitely going to Bansko for Nomad Fest in June, staying for at least 2 weeks before and after the main event.
My wife and I are going to be pulling up the tent stakes, taking our kids out of school and "World Schooling" them for a year starting in June of 2024. This has been a dream of ours ever since we did a RTW trip 15 years ago pre-kids. Our kids are now at the "right" ages and we stoked to go for it. We'll be quitting our jobs and are hoping to find remote based project work in the next 6 months that will allow us to earn income while we travel. Any advice welcome!
Dreaming of an Eastern Europe train journey (Bulgaria, Bosnia, Serbia, Romania)!
My first ever trip to Central America, specifically to Costa Rica. I cannot wait. I always wanted to go.
Aside from the random road trips and traveling to see family we are planning a road trip from New Mexico to either San Diego or Los Angeles. We plan on visiting the Grand Canyon and Joshua Tree in between and probably a few other places. As always the trip is only half planned because we tend to get distracted and off schedule if we schedule too tightly.
Would love to be able to travel around the world once again.
So far i only can plan trips for others 🙏
First up Nairobi, Dar es Salem and Zanzibar
Hi Kim,
