I'm Angie, a Malaysian living in Singapore, and I love Southeast Asia so much!
Even if I have only visited 6 of the 11 countries here. Perhaps being a small-town girl transitioned into a big-city woman gave me an opportunity to experience the regional charms from natural forest to concrete jungle, and the easy access to the local food culture put me right at home no matter where I go.
Over the past few years, I had the chance to meet a few long-term travellers from beyond, touring Southeast Asia. Often they would tell me that their favourite part about the region is the less touristy places, where they could put themselves right into the local experiences. I almost get what they mean - when I was researching for a Bali trip, I was so sick of repetitive contents about the same destinations and sights that I decided to forget about it, rented a scooter, and went about with my own exploration and schedule. Best decision ever made.
Bali aside, I began to think: what about everywhere ...

We are going to Bansko Nomad Fest (June 25 - July 2 — banskonomadfest.com) to meet other nomad enthusiast and promote our app a bit ;)
Who else is going or has been in the past to share how it works and what to expect?
We are also applying to be speakers (bit.ly/nomadfest-mapmelon) so if in the end we make it... Any tips?
Regarding your stage talk: Inspire people, say something different, don't promote yourself, offer ACTIONABLE tips and ideas, show numbers and research. With 75+ speakers, think about how would you stand out!
Good tips! Thank you :)
Will focus on actionable tips and ideas!
All the best, Sole! I'm sure you're going to nail it.
I will definitely be there! It's great fun. The last two years I have volunteered and this year I will go for free :)
See you there! :)
Yes - most of you know I live in Bansko all year round and have been attending and helping with Bansko Nomad Fest since it started with 50 people 3 years ago. Last year, there were 500 people! This year - maybe around 700.
Some tips:
• Come to Bansko before and after the event - stay at least for a month to make meaningful connections.
• During the event week - get time off work as the schedule is super busy with sessions, adventures, tours, parties, networking, and other activities. You will not have time for work!
• Become a volunteer - if you want to get free access and help with the event organisation.
Stay in Bansko longer would be my number one tip!
There are already hundreds of digital nomads living in Bansko all year round - and making the town their base. The community is great. The Bansko Nomad Fest week is very hectic - and that's fun for a week. But the magic comes after you stay longer.
Saved! We are planning to stay for a month there.
Can't wait :)
I'll be there :)
Looking forward to it!
See you there :)
This is a great get-together for Digital Nomads. I have been 2 years now and loved it. It is a great place to network and meet other remote workers in a beautiful setting. Unfortunately, I won't be able to make it this year, but I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to meet a lot of digital nomads in one place.
Ohh see you next year there then!!
I'll be there. Looking forward to it as it will be my first time at the conference and my first time in Bulgaria. We are also doing what Maria suggested and will be in Bansko both before and after the conference for a bit. We run a blogger agency for travel content marketing and visibility campaigns. If you see me, please say hi!
First time for us too in Bansko and the fest, will be before the fest too. Let's try to meet :)
Definitely!!!!
Thank you for reminding me about the nomad fest. I think that I am able to join this year. Would absolutely love to do so. Having been a nomad for many years, it's always great to catch up with people who live a similar lifestyle.
Totally! It is a great opportunity to connect with like minded individuals :)
uow very cool, im in Bucharest!
