There's actually tons of great hiking opportunities in Japan, too! I'm not an expert hiker so I can't do the insane consecutive day ones, but one of my favourites was up Mt. Karakuni, which is a part of the Kirishima volcanic mountain range. The view of the blue caldera lake below was stunning!
