For 6 years, I ran a social-impact travel company. We co-created sustainable tourism programs in emerging communities in Dominican Republic, Haiti, Kenya, Uganda, Jamaica and Colombia, and were proud to contribute to the creation of more than 50 jobs, 20 businesses, and the diversion of over $350,000 directly into 7 emerging communities.

Throughout our journey, I uncovered a nasty problem - it was really, really hard to take creative tourism concepts and bring them online so that travellers could book them. I spoke with hundreds of other business for help, only to discover that they too were having exactly the same problem.

So, I decided to change course and solve this problem for everyone, and founded Playces - the first travel platform exclusively for independent tourism. Our travel communities help help businesses connect directly with travellers, and our booking and business tools make it easy to take bookings and payments online.
