Searching for exciting Job opportunities connecting tourism, sustainability and data driven approaches:
Hi everyone!
I'm Thorge, a Master's student in Sustainable Tourism Management at HNEE in Eberswalde (Germany) currently working on my thesis under the first supervision of Claudia Brözel and with Maria Stoyanova as second supervisor. My thesis explores the potential of large language models for analyzing the expected social impact of social enterprises based on textual data.
Unfortunately, my original plan to continue working as a student employee until graduation is no longer possible due to my employer’s insolvency. As a result, I am now looking for new job opportunities earlier than expected. Claudia recommended setting up a post here, as this community might just have the perfect fit for my skills and interests.
After reading Ian’s recent post about the evolution of Travel Massive and the power of its community, I feel this could be exactly the right place to connect with like-minded people and explore new opportunities, too.
A Bit About Me and My Skills:
I hold a bachelor’s degree in tourism economics and decided to deepen my expertise in sustainability through my current master’s program. Over the last two years, I’ve gained practical experience working in a camper rental business, where I was involved in a wide range of tasks. My last role here was to manage the fleet of the station in Berlin with around 120 vehicles. In cooperation with my university I also set up a dashboard visualizing the CO2e emissions based on the booking data.
I’ve always had a strong affinity for numbers and data, which I further developed during my master’s program through courses like Business Intelligence & Data Mining and Environmental Data Analysis. These experiences provided me with tools and techniques for data modeling, visualization and interpretation, which I would love to apply in a professional environment. My studies and work have equipped me with analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a strong understanding of sustainable tourism strategies.
I really enjoy digging into data, identifying patterns and developing ideas and solutions for using given data. However, I am missing practical experience in data analysis tasks within a corporate environment and I would like to take the insolvency as a chance to gain exactly this knowledge before looking for a full-time job.
What I’m Looking For:
I’m seeking opportunities to contribute to data-driven projects, sustainability-focused initiatives, or digital transformation efforts in tourism. I’m exited to apply my broad skill set while deepening my understanding of digital infrastructure, data pipelines and analytics platforms. Additionally, I’d like to expand my programming skills, especially in Python and my knowledge in data visualization.
I’m looking for working student positions until I complete my master’s degree in June 2025. After that, I’m also ready for full-time roles. I live in Berlin, so a job here with remote options would be a perfect fit, but I am also open to completely remote job opportunities.
Let’s Connect!
If you’re working on exciting projects related to tourism tech, data analytics, or sustainability—or know someone who is—I’d love to connect! Feel free to reach out, share ideas, or discuss collaboration and job opportunities.
I’m exited to connect with you and explore ways to shape a sustainable future of tourism through data driven approaches. Feel free to reach out!
Cheers,
Thorge
