Hi Thejus, thanks for sharing your accelerator program with the Travel Massive community.
Couple of questions/comments:
Is your accelerator program open to all nationalities, or only Indian-citizens?
I can see a big benefit for non-technical founders to be able to tap into the developer and engineering talent in India to build their ideas. Is this something you are looking to harness, or should founders be equipped with technical skills or bring a technical co-founder?
What's the startup scene like in Goa compared to other cities in India? Is there a big digital nomad community over there too?
Thanks Ian for the message.
Let me try to answer all your questions the best way possible:
1. Is your accelerator program open to all nationalities, or only Indian-citizens?
We ideated and launched the TourismTech Accelerator program for Goa during the second wave of pandemic in India. Since it was a pilot program, we decided to include only Indian founders due to the travel constraints. We got applications from 6 countries for the program itself. Currently Tourism related startups from Australia, France, Spain etc. are in discussion with us to understand the possibility of Indian Market access.
2. should founders be equipped with technical skills or bring a technical co-founder?
Both. We are not just an incubator. We also have a venture builder model where we take care of the startup by getting equity against tech, funding, marketing support, mentorship etc. Mostly we see founders with a tech team in our accelerator. Accelerator program is for a mature team. Ideation falls under incubation.
3. Goa tops the list in Digital Nomad scene in Goa.
Goa is blessed with all sort of landscape from beaches to water falls even though it's one of the smallest state in India.
In fact the inflow was way more during the pandemic.
To give a context: In Goa 1.5 million is the local population. 2 million outisders live in Goa. 1 out of 3 people travelled to Goa in the year 2021. 70-80 million people travel every year as per the 2019 reports.
I hope I've answered your questions.
