The rooftop of Cape Town’s iconic Grand Daddy Boutique Hotel transformed into a dazzling hub of celebration, connection, and inspiration at last month’s event hosted by Queer Eye Tours and Travel Massive Cape Town. The evening welcomed travel professionals, community leaders, and passionate changemakers all united by a common goal: to champion Pride and inclusive tourism in South Africa and beyond.
✨ Connection, Inspiration, and Celebration to welcome in Twenty-Twenty-Thrive
The highlight of the event was a keynote speech by Rob Quintas, DA Metro LGBTQIA+ Representative, who spoke passionately about the Democratic Alliance’s commitment to inclusion and visibility within Cape Town’s tourism and civic spaces. Quintas reaffirmed the City’s support for the LGBTQ+ community, emphasizing policies that prioritize safety, representation, and opportunity, particularly as Cape Town prepares to host World Pride in 2028.
In a key moment of the evening, Cape Town Pride communicated the critical work already underway to ensure the city is ready to welcome the world for World Pride 2028. From infrastructure to cultural programming, the roadmap is being shaped in close collaboration with local government and queer community leaders.
The evening was hosted by Juan Graham Locke, CEO of Queer Eye Tours and Chapter Leader of the LGBTQIA+ Division of Travel Massive Cape Town, alongside Fuad Peters of IAMCAPETOWN, Head of Travel Massive Cape Town.
Guests from across sectors—politics, sport, health, hospitality, the arts, and education—gathered to network, reflect, and celebrate this milestone moment for the city. As the skyline shimmered above, attendees shared stories and ideas over curated bites by Life’s Little Feasts, united in their vision of Cape Town as a world-class destination rooted in diversity, progress, and pride.
