About this event

What does it mean to be a travel writer in 2021? How do we navigate a new landscape of travel and differing needs of publishers? How will travel writers need to evolve in 2022 and beyond?

We'll host a panel of published travel writers sharing how they've adapted and continue to adapt in a quickly changing industry.

⏱ Schedule:
• 6:00-6:30PM - meet up at Solas Bar, East Village
• 6:30PM - 7:15PM - official panel discussion
• 7:15-7:30PM - Q&A for panelists
• 7:30 onward - hang out, chat and network!

Melanie Lieberman is currently the senior travel editor at The Points Guy, where she oversees daily travel and lifestyle news, destination coverage, travel features and reports. Prior to TPG, Melanie was an editor at Travel + Leisure magazine, and her work has appeared in Bloomberg Pursuits, Yahoo Travel, Jetsetter, Boston Common magazine, LUXE City Guides, Thrillist and Saveur magazine, among others. She has been recognized for her journalism, poetry, prose and playwriting in various competitions and festivals, and has been featured as a travel expert by notable outlets across radio, podcasts, in print and on television, including Good Morning America, MSNBC, Fox Business and The Weather Channel.

Katherine Parker-Magyar is a New York City-based travel and culture writer who has visited 68 countries, 6 continents, and all 50 states in pursuit of a story. Her work has been published in Architectural Digest, Business Insider, Forbes, The Daily Beast, The Week, TripSavvy, World Travel Magazine, Departures, and more. She got her start as a newspaper reporter during college, and earned her Master's in literature at the New School. She's a member of the Society of American Travel Writers and the Transformational Travel Council.
