I write about travel, lifestyle & culture for Architectural Digest, Forbes, The Week, Business Insider, TripSavvy, The Daily Beast, Tasting Table, Elite Daily, Popsugar, Electrify, Brit + Co, Insider, Go Overseas, Quest Magazine, and the New Jersey Hills Media Group, where I first began my career as a newspaper reporter. I earned my master’s degree summa cum laude with honors in nonfiction writing from the New School.
I am a travel contributor for Forbes, where I write about culture, nature, and adventure. As a Caribbean Expert for TripSavvy, I cover the islands and nations of that (idyllic) part of the world. I also continue to contribute to the New Jersey Hills Media Group via a monthly travel feature that runs in all 17 weekly newspapers, as well as online.
I love to travel because I love meeting new people and experiencing different cultures. When I was only 14-months-old, my parents brought me along to the Arctic Circle. Since then, I’ve visited all 50 states and just as many countries (52 and counting). Though I’ve studied abroad in London and Osaka, I call New York City home.
I have been interviewed about my travels throughout Africa, Europe, and the Caribbean for publications, podcasts, and radio shows. My writing has been translated into French and Arabic and I’ve been profiled in the Huffington Post, Le Diplomate Tunisien and the Economist Maghreb about my reporting on the Barbary Coast.
In my career as a travel writer, I’ve driven husky sleighs through Arctic forests in Finnish Lapland and sailed the Rio Negro to the heart of the Brazilian Amazon. I’ve practiced yoga with goats in the Swiss Alps and chased Alaskan King Salmon off the shores of Prince of Wales Island. I’ve jumped into black holes in Belize and trekked across the most active volcanic valleys in the Caribbean. I’ve hot air ballooned above the Sierra Nevada and tracked rhinos in the savannah of the Maasai Mara.
While I’m always eager for new adventures, my most meaningful experiences on trips are often rather mundane, or unexpected—the moments shared with strangers met along the way. Travel, I’ve learned, is other people. I truly believe that #travelislove and, to paraphrase Mark Twain, that it’s fatal for hatred, bigotry and narrow-mindedness.
I’m thrilled to be working in an industry that is a force for good in the world.
