Hey everyone, please help beta test our latest feature!
I've created a new feature called "Places" which allows you to record the places you've been, lived, and want to go. To access the new feature, tap on "Places" in your account menu, or visit travelmassive.com/places
Why did you create this?
For over 10 years we've been asking "What is your favorite travel destination?" and "Where do you dream of traveling to?" on Travel Massive profiles. We have A LOT of responses over the years (50,000+ answers) and I'd always wanted to put this on a map. Every map tells a story, and it's a lot of fun seeing where people have travelled.
I know there's already a few apps and websites that track where you've been, but many of them are either complicated, have poor UX, and require another signup. Since we already have thousands of locations submitted by members, and our own platform, I thought I'd give it a go and create our own community map for Travel Massive! ๐
A big thanks to members who provided early testing over the past few weeks, and a special shout-out to Ric Gazarian (@global_gaz) who vetted our list of 250+ places.
A few tips:
โข We're only counting countries/territories and not cities or landmarks. โข If you're on mobile, you can add multiple places at once. โข There's a couple of easter eggs... see if you can spot them, but don't reveal! โข For the micronation fans out there, we added Slowjamastan and Sealand ๐ค โข Your account needs to be verified (blue checkmark) to appear on the leaderboard.
Please give this new feature a go, and let me know your feedback!
That would indeed be a sacrilege! Maybe @Ian could add a category "transited only" to allow differentiation? We have this option at LogMy.World for the same reason ;)
Since announcing this new feature a couple of weeks ago, the community has added over 6000 entries. And we've had quite some competition on the leaderboard!
I've added a few small improvements:
โข Extended the ranking beyond the Top 100 โ see your ranking on your map โข Added Slowjamastan to the map (zoom in near San Diego to find it!)
My next goal is to add some awards. If you have some suggestions (e.g. visiting all land-locked places) then please share them here as suggestions.
Thanks again to everyone who has shared their adventures!
Hey everyone, dropping a quick comment here to announce a few updates.
I had a rainy public holiday (King's Birthday) stuck inside, so decided to work on a few improvements and new features for Travel Massive Places:
โข Tap to scoll on the map (it got annoying trying to scroll down the page) โข Text list of place names + flags you have visited (helpful for bios, etc) โข 20+ achievement awards, including:
๐ฆ Visited 193 UN Member States ๐ดโโ ๏ธ Visited a micronation โฐ๏ธ Visited a landlocked place ๐ (Expat) Lived in 5 places ๐๏ธ Visiting all 19 summer Olympic host nations or โท๏ธ 13 Winter Olympic nations ๐ช๐บ And a few achievements for things like visiting a certain number of bloc countries in EU, BRICS, or Commonwealth.
You'll find the awards tab below your map with any that you've collected. Note that you need to be a verified member (complete your profile to apply if you don't have blue checkmark) to receive achievement awards.
My next step is to build some more interesting statistics and data about where we've travelled. I might make this interactive if I get the chance to simplify it. There's lots of really interesting insights from all our maps, and I'm really enjoying building this.
That's all for now, I hope you enjoy this feature or find it helpful!

Love it!
Love it! This is so cool and super fun!
So cool!
Hopefully as this is Travel Massive we won't get all those guys who count landing at the airport as a visit!
That would indeed be a sacrilege! Maybe @Ian could add a category "transited only" to allow differentiation? We have this option at LogMy.World for the same reason ;)
This is really fun!
I've added my places on the map โ looks like I've been to 32 places.
It's hard to count the US when I only visited NYC for 1 week :D But it's understandable.
I couldn't find the easter eggs :/ ๐ฃ
